Kingkan Na Chiangmai has been officially named as the Democrat Party's candidate in the April 21 by-election in Chiang Mai's Constituency 3.

Her candidacy was announced on Sunday at the party's headquarters by party deputy leader Apirak Kosayodhin, deputy leader for the North Region Siriwan Prasachaksatru and Tak MP Thanitpol Chaiyanan.

Mr Thanitpol was also named the party's director for the by-election.

Mrs Kingkan is a former Democrat MP for Chiang Mai.

The by-election was made necessary by the resignation of Kasem Nimmolrat of the Pheu Thai Party.

Pheu Thai has picked Yaowapa Wongsawat, a younger sister of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and former MP in the constituency, as its candidate.
