His Majesty the King Friday sent a letter of congratulation to China's new president, Xi Jinping, and expressed his confidence that ties between Thailand and China would strengthen.
"I am pleased to extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes for your success and happiness, as well as for the greater progress and prosperity of the People's Republic of China and her people," the King said.
"I am confident that the close bonds of friendly relations and cooperation between our two countries and peoples will be further strengthened in the years to come," the King said in the letter released by the Office of His Majesty's Principal Private Secretary.
China's parliament, the National People's Congress, formally appointed Xi as the country's new president on Thursday.
