BANGKOK, 26 March 2013 – The criminal court has ruled to acquit the two remaining suspects in the arson attack on the Central World shopping mall in May 2010.

The two Red Shirt protestors, Saichol Phaebua and Pinit Jannarong, were charged with setting fire to the Central World shopping mall during the protest crackdown in May 2010. The Southern Bangkok Criminal Court yesterday acquitted them of the charge.

"The witnesses' testimony is inconclusive", the court said. The judge continued that "some of the invading men in that early afternoon wore handkerchief-masks" and that "there was also smoke, and the intruding men were far from the burning area".

The two, who have been refused bail for three years, will join two other suspects acquitted earlier. Four suspects were arrested on the Central World arson case, and the acquittal of the last two suspects yesterday concluded the case.
