Cabinet extends household LPG price-fixing period

BANGKOK, 22 March 2013 (NNT) â€" Another extension to the period of price-capping for cooking gas used in the household sector has been endorsed by the Cabinet, allowing the price to be fixed at 18 baht 13 satang per kilogram until the end of the month.

The Cabinet has assigned the Energy Policy Committee to quickly conclude the methods for implementation of upwards price revisions for LPG gas, so that in the future the price may reflect the true costs. The government is also seeking measures to aid low-income people who may be affected by future raising of the gas price.

The refinery-front LPG price of 24 baht 82 satang will be used as the reference price for future price revisions.

The Cabinet has also endorsed another 1-month extension to the reduction of excise tax on diesel fuel, before the current effective period ends on 31 March.
