Units at AquaSamui feature ocean views

Within 50 days of being introduced to the market, 10 units have been snapped up by buyers at Luxury Living Asia's (LLA) boutique development, AquaSamui. The development was designed by award-winning architect Gary Fell of Gfab.

Units at AquaSamui afford panoramic views over Chaweng Beach and the Gulf of Siam. The development is a short distance from shopping areas, restaurants and beaches, as well as hospitals, international schools and Samui International airport.

Despite the strong take-up rate at AquaSamui, luxury property sales throughout Thailand have been slow-moving since the 1998 economic crisis.

"We're obviously thrilled with AquaSamui's initial success but it doesn't come as a surprise," said Antonio Duan, managing director of LLA.

"Our extensive pre-planning and research showed us the current luxury market for holiday home buyers on Koh Samui, and Thailand in general, is very different than pre-economic crisis times. Luxury buyers still want great design, a wonderful location and quality building; but now developers must also offer well-thought out pricing and legal security for the buyer," said Duan.

"AquaSamui's design mandate turned small spaces into ultra-contemporary living areas which feel spacious in a large open-form layout," said Gary Fell, architect of the project.

"Modern design, motivated by a quest for efficiency was distinguished by an emphasis on function over form. With this focus, we created a master plan that deals with the challenges of density without sacrificing privacy. The boundaries between interiors and exteriors are merged with an extensive use of glazing to provide a seamless spillover from architecture to nature," said Fell.

Communal facilities at AquaSamui include a lobby reception, gym, restaurant and parking. Additional features include water roofs, ponds and pedestrian walkways, in addition to CCTV and a 24 hour security team.

The development employs various eco-friendly strategies, including climate control, LED lighting systems and water recycling.

Six two-bedroom units measuring 160sqm in size are available, priced at THB8.9 million (US$303,833) per unit. Two three bedroom Type A units are available, measuring 220 sqm in size and priced at THB9.9 million (US$337,947) per unit. Three Type B three-bedroom units are available, measuring 275 sqm in size and priced at THB15.9 million (US$542,756) per unit.

Units feature minimalist designs, with floor to ceiling windows that open onto a private landscaped terrace. Bathrooms and kitchens are fully equipped with the latest designer amenities and each unit's open plan living space overlooks a private infinity pool.
