Myanmar is hoping to use the 2013 World Economic Forum on East Asia, to be host by the country, as an opportunity to discuss possible investment opportunities in the country, according to officials.

A press release from the President Office said the organising committee will be formed and will be headed by two government ministers.

Myanmar is hopeful on the forum that it may discuss foreign investment opportunities in the country and economic development issues. It is also expected to share the knowledge and experience of leading economists during the forum.

With President Office Ministers Soe Thein and Tin Naing Thein as the chairmen, the World Economic Forum on East Asia-2013 Observance Committee is comprised its members of ministers, deputy ministers, representatives from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Myanmar Tourisum Industry Federation, Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs' Association and officials from Myanmar Market Promoting Committee.

According to World Economic Forum's website, the Forum will be held in Nay Pyi Taw from June 5 to 7.

The agreement to hold the forum in Myanmar was reached in the 21st World Economic Forum on East Asia held in Thailand last year.
