Fourteen Russian tourists are demanding that police speed up their investigation into a scam by a Russian travel company in Pattaya.

The tourists told the superintendent of Pattaya Police Station on Saturday that they had paid a total of 3 million baht for package tours but the operator did not keep her promises.

They filed their original complaint last Monday against Natalia Aleynikova, the 55-year-old operator of the World of Chang travel company in Bang Lamung district.

One of the tourists said they had bought package tours from the company but when they arrived, the company refused to take them to the destinations it had advertised.

When they got together to press the company for answers, they did not get any, and later could not reach the company at all.

Pol Col Suwan Cheaonawinthawat, the superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, said he had instructed officers to question victims and witnesses thoroughly and to find more evidence, as well as summon the company's owner for questioning.

Besides the Russians, three American tourists also lodged complaints with Pattaya Police that they had been cheated by World of Chang. They said they had paid 3,500 baht each for tours to Trat but the trips never took place.
