Thailand's automotive industry recorded monthly sale of 125,817 units in January, according to data compiled by Toyota Motor Thailand.

The units represented a 63.4 per cent increase from the same period last year. Driving it was the delivery of units bought under the first-car buyer scheme, which boosted passenger-car sales by 108.6 per cent on year to 59,872 units. Overall, the huge increase was attributable to low base last year, following the 2011 flood.

In the month, Toyota sold 40,663 units, up by 12.5 per cent on year, accounting for 32.3 per cent of total car sales. Following are Isuzu, 15.8 per cent; and Honda, 14.6 per cent.
