Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana extended their surprise run in the Chennai Open when they beat Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky and Somdev Devvarman of India 6-3 7-5 in the doubles quarter-finals on Friday.

The unseeded Thai twins combined superbly to outplay their opponents in just one hour and 30 minutes in the last match of the day before a handful of spectators on the centre court.

Playing their first ATP event since the Thailand Open in August, the twins returned superbly to break the third game of the first set and again in the 11th game of the second set.

"We have played very well at the net and made very few mistakes. But we need to keep our first-serves percentage higher," said Sanchai.

The Thai duo, who stunned second seeded Leander Paes of India and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France in the opening round, were to play Germans Andre Begermann and Martin Emmrich in the semi-finals at press time yesterday.
