Motörhead to launch headphones in US at CES

Lemmy Kilmister from world famous rock and roll band Motorhead will be taking to the stage at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on January 8, but instead of playing rock 'n' roll the frontman will be overseeing the US launch of the band's specially designed headphones.

Called Motörheadphönes, the aural devices come with the pitch: "Our headphones breathe the free-spirited-do-what-we-want-in-the-name-of-REAL-rock-and-roll attitude that Motörhead stands for" and apparently are "all-metal! No silly plastic."

The range of headphones includes models such as Bomber, Ironfist and Motorizer, named after some of the band's albums throughout its more than 30-year career.

Kilmister will launch the headphones, which are currently available in Europe, at this year's CES from January 8-11 in Los Vegas.

While at one stage the launch of novelty products such as headphones would have been seen as the kiss of death for serious bands, or left to the likes of Kiss itself, nowadays an increasing number of artists are releasing their own audio-related equipment -- including Dr. Dre and his long-established Beats brand of headphones and Bob Marley's son Rohan Marley with the House Of Marley headphones.

Jersey Shore's Snooki, meanwhile, endorsed a line of headphones produced by iHip, unveiled at CES 2012.
