Expect a night of Luna Sea

Legendary Japanese rock band Luna Sea is poised to take Bangkok by storm next month.


Japanese rock group Luna Sea will give their first concert in Thailand at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, on Feb 5.



Comprising bassist J, rhythm guitarist Inoran, violinist Sugizo, drummer Shinya and vocalist Ryuichi, the quintet is one of Thai fans' favourite J-Rock bands, rated on par with X Japan and L'Arc en Ciel. For more than a quarter of a century the group has vowed its fans with hits such as Believe, True Blue, Rosier, Desire, End Of Sorrow, In Silence, Storm, Shine, I For You and Gravity.


Called Lunacy when founded in 1986, it was renamed Luna Sea in 1991 when the band released its first self-titled album, followed up with live performances and their first national tour.


Luna Sea disbanded in 2000 but reunited for concerts in 2007 and in 2008. In 2010 the group relaunched itself and went on a world tour. This year they plan to release their first album in 13 years.


The rock quintet began its "Luna Sea Live 2012-2013: The End of the Dream" world tour last year, and the Bangkok gig is part of their Asian tour. The first stop is Taiwan, for two shows on Jan 26 and 27, before proceeding to Hong Kong on Feb 2, then to Bangkok on Feb 5 and finally Singapore on Feb 8.



The concert takes place at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, on Feb 5 starting 8.30pm.
