Paris - Former England captain David Beckham was set to join big-spending French side Paris St Germain on Thursday, the BBC reported.

"David Beckham is on his way to France to complete the formalities of a move to Paris St Germain," the report said.

"The 37-year-old midfielder is expected to be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday and will begin training with the club in the next fortnight." PSG have not commented but announced a news conference for 1600 GMT.

Beckham has been without a club since completing a five-year contract at Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy and was lately keeping fit at England's Arsenal.//DPA
