When I heard the news that four shopping malls and two community malls are planed to be built in Chiang Mai in 2012-2013, I was so shocked. It is a big change and I think it will totally affect this Lanna Kingdom in several ways.
At present, there is construction everywhere in Chiang Mai. I'm sad to tell you that Chiang Mai will be turned into another Bangkok very soon. We already have the beautiful scenery like Doi Suthep and many beautiful temples that other provinces don't have. These are the reasons why Chiang Mai is unique and its charisma attracts many tourists to visit - not these modern buildings like those to be found everywhere.
