In-form striker Teerasil Dangda says personal pride in becoming the tournament's top striker will take second place to his determination to help three-time champions Thailand reclaim the Asean Championship title.
The Muang Thong United forward's five goals from four matches have propelled Thailand into the final against old foes Singapore, who have also won the title three times.
The Thais will visit the city state on Wednesday before hosting a return leg three days later at Supachalasai National Stadium.
Leading Singapore's Shahril Ishak by a single goal in the scoring charts, the 24-year-old Teerasil has scored in every match except the opener against Philippines, but says his only focus is on winning his first Championship title.
"Everything comes second behind winning what would be our fourth title. Being a striker, you certainly should aim to win the top scorer award. However, it would be meaningless if Thailand failed to win the trophy after a wait of 10 years," said Teerasil, who was joint top scorer four years ago.
Linked with a move overseas after helping his club win the Thai Premier League title, Teerasil has amassed a total of nine goals in the Asean tournament now known as the Suzuki Cup, just six behind Thailand's all-time leading scorer Worawut Srimaka.
