Apple drops Samsung's Galaxy S3 Mini from patent lawsuit
San Francisco - Apple Inc has dropped Samsung Electronic's Galaxy S3 Mini from its patent-infringement lawsuit against the South Korea-based company.
Apple agreed to withdraw the smartphone from its case after Samsung assured the federal court in California that the phone will not be sold in the United States, according to a court filing Friday.
The S3 Mini is Samsung's smaller version of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3. The S3 Mini was part of one case in a series of challenges by Apple to Samsung products. This particular case is expected to go to trial in 2014.
In a US court ruling in August, a US federal jury ordered Samsung to pay Apple 1.05 billion dollars in damages for infringing on six Apple smartphone patents. Samsung is seeking to get that figure reduced.//DPA
