The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has forwarded a corruption case brought against two former ministers in the Abhisit Vejjajiva government and two senior education officials to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for further legal action.

The four are former education minister Chinnaworn Boonyakiat, former education minister Narissara Chawantanpipat, Jiang Wongsawassuriya of the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (Ovec), and Bamrung Aramrueng, director of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Technical College.

Pol Lt-Col Thawal Mangkhang, a DSI chief investigator, said the four were found to have been involved in alleged irregularities in Ovec's purchase of overpriced school supplies with a budget of 5.3 billion baht under the Thai Khem Khaeng economic stimulation project in violation of the price collusion law and Article 157 of the Criminal Code.

As instructed by DSI director-general Tarit Pengdit, he had forwarded the case and related evidence to the NACC for further legal action, Pol Lt-Col Thawal said.

Although the case had been sent to the NACC, the DSI would still continue to investigate and gather more evidence, Pol Lt-Col Thawal said.
