Two Thais through in Indian Open

Rising stars Luksika Kumkhum and Noppawan Lertcheewakarn marched into the second round of the US$125,000 Royal Indian Open in Pune yesterday.





Teenaged Luksika toppled Hong Kong's Chan Wing-chan 6-4 6-4 while former junior world No 1 Noppawan rallied from 3-5 down to beat Israeli Julia Glushko 6-3 7-5.



Thai No 1 Tamarine Tanasugarn is seeded eighth and will open her campaign against Taiwan's Chan Chin-wei. No 2 Nudnida Luangnam has been drawn in a tough section where she will play top seed and world No 90 Nina Bratchikova of Russia.



Another Thai, Varatchaya Wongteanchai, was to play third-seeded Donna Vekic of Croatia late last night.
