Truth wins over eloquence

Re: "PM must stand up to schoolboy bully", Letters, November 6.

Somsak Pola says PM Yingluck Shinawatra should emulate Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard in her successful debate against that country's opposition leader. I think that's irrelevant and doesn't make sense.

In politics, honesty is the best policy, and speaking the truth often is the best strategy in a debate. No matter how much oratory skill you possess, without honesty and truth in your speech, you will only lose out.

First off, PM Yingluck must gain people's respect by acting as the country's true prime minister instead of some mastermind's "clone" - as has been claimed by someone ever since the day of her political debut.

Undo this laid claim and you can win minds and any debate.
