The nation is doomed and Thais don't care

The press explained the failure of last weekend's anti-government demonstration as being due to lack of public sentiment, the leaders' lack of experience in organising and managing rallies, and so on.

To me the root of the failure is Thai culture and belief. It cannot be denied that the majority of Thais only care about themselves, and accept corruption if they receive the benefit. This government was elected by the majority, most of whom hold this kind of attitude and don't care if they have a corrupt, inefficient, proxy government. The better-informed group should just sit tight and manage their taxes intelligently and not let their hard-earned money be siphoned off by corrupt politicians and their cronies. If the nation is doomed, then let it be. The people have chosen.
