Thai Airways has introduced its first double-deck A380 aircraft which will initially serve two popular short-haul routes; Bangkok-Hong Kong and Bangkok-Singapore.
The superjumbo features 507 seats in three classes; 12 for First, 60 for Business and 435 for Economy class located in the upper and lower deck areas. Each seat has a personal interactive screen with upgraded entertainment system. I flew Business Class to Singapore last week for the flight review.
The seat was comfortable, measuring 50cm wide and 1.87m long when reclined at 180 degrees. Sadly, there is no lounge in the Business Class, but there's a small bar at the First Class area. Unfortunately THAI does not sell First Class tickets for the Bangkok-Singapore route.
THAI plans to add five more A380s within the year and will start to utilise the aircraft for long-haul flights including to Frankfurt in December, Narita in January and Paris in February.
