PM's Office taps into apps to get word out

Written By Unknown on Sunday, 11 November 2012 | 23:40

The PM's Office plans to starting using smart-phone messaging applications Line and WhatsApp to distribute news items and photos to the media, government spokesman Tossaporn Serirak said.

The move follows the idea to distribute news via SMS by PM's Office Minister Sansanee Nakpong when she served as government spokeswoman. Tossaporn said he would start using the apps when he accompanies PM Yingluck Shinawatra on her trip to the UK from next Monday to Wednesday. (November 12 to 14)

In addition to SMS, Yingluck's public-relations team also actively posts photos and news on the PM's Facebook fanpage and her Twitter account, @PouYingluck.

The Thai Khu Fah Twitter and Facebook accounts initiated by the Abhisit Vejjajiva government also provide updates, but are not as active.
