World No 1 Victoria Azarenka is enjoying life by the beach with her pop-star companion ahead of her exhibition match with China's Li Na tomorrow.
The Belarussian is back in Hua Hin for the second straight year but this time she is accompanied by RedFoo one half of electro-pop duo LMFAO, famous for its worldwide hit "Sexy and I Know It".
The tennis star, winner of this year's Australian Open, did some shopping with her date at the Chatchai night market on Wednesday where they bought T Shirts adorned with fun slogans, iPhone cases and a slingshot.
"We enjoyed it a lot. It's something different to see," said the 23-year-old winner of 14 WTA titles. She is due to strut the catwalk in a Thai-silk fashion show today before playing Li at the Hua Hin Centennial Park tomorrow.
"So many people came here last year, hopefully there will be a few more [this time]. I'm glad to be back and hope to put on a good show. I have been training a little bit and will do a fashion show which is going to be fun," said Azarenka, a finalist in this year's US Open and WTA Championships in Istanbul. After spending time in the gym on Wednesday, Azarenka practised on court for almost two hours with Michigan Technology student Sirawit Yumuang at the Tvimook Tennis Sports Complex.
Resplendent in his signature Afro hair-do and white sunglasses, RedFoo, who is releasing new single "Bring Out the Bottles" today, is on his second visit to Thailand but his first as a tourist.
"Vika [Azarenka] always has some special activities. She likes to have fun. That's great for me. I think maybe I might hire her as my tour guide when I'm on my official work," joked RedFoo, while showing off some dance moves on the beach. "She should put together plans, we're going to go bike riding, or bike on the beach. We might ride horses, we might do some Gangnam-style dancing too."
The 37-year-old singer played on the junior ITF and USTA circuits in his youth, before hanging up his racquet in 1993 to pursue a musical career. Though he and Azarenka showed no signs of being romantically involved, they obviously enjoy each other's company.
As RedFoo told media about his days on the junior circuit along with current world No 1doubles duo Bob and Mike Bryan, he boasted that he had never lost to Lester Cook, a former top 200 American player, Victoria interrupted. "He likes to mention that in every interview," she laughed.
RedFoo saved some praise for Azarenka, saying she always beat him on court. "She's the best player I have ever seen in my life."
Azarenka shot back with: "You should ask who is better at singing."
