Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana have missed the chance to win their ninth Challenger trophy of the year, losing the final in the US$50,000 Keio Challenger International Tennis in Yokohama yesterday.
The tournament's top duo was upset by India's Prakash Amritraj and Austria's Philipp Oswald 6-3 6-4. Both Thais are heading to the next event in Toyota, Japan, for the US$50,000 Dunlop World Challenge which also features Thai women players Tamarine Tanasugarn, Noppawan Lertcheewakarn and rising star Luksika Kumkhum.
In Toyota, Kittipong Wachiramanowong lost the second qualifying round to Japan's Tatkuto Niki 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 in. He had earlier beaten Taiwan's Hsien-Yin Peng 6-3 7-5 in the first round.
